Chapter Eleven
Ascend the Heights of Detachment
As described in the New Testament, Lord Jesus gave a profound message to his closest disciples:
...I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. (NIV Matthew 10: 34-35)
This is a shocking statement. Everyone knows that Jesus came to establish peace. But then, what did He mean by this paradoxical statement? And what was He expressing when He continued:
He that loveth father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he that taketh not his Cross, and followeth after Me, is not worthy of me. He that ndeth his life shall lose it: and he that
