asunder the illusions created by the mind steeped in the darkness of ignorance, the very cause of pain and suffering. When this happens, there unfolds the unimaginable beauty of Divine Love, the ultimate source of peace and supreme joy.
In another statement Lord Jesus says:
And everyone that hath forsaken houses or brethren or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands for my name’s sake shall receive a hundred-fold, and shall inherit everlasting life.
(KJV Matthew 19:29)
If you follow this literally you will conclude that if you renounce one husband, you’ll acquire one hundred husbands in Heaven, or if you renounce your mother, you will have a hundred mothers in Heaven. But of course, you cannot interpret these teachings literally. This is why mystical teachings need to be understood under guidance.
This statement is not meant to create a sense of disharmony. What it really implies is that God should be loved in all relations. It is from the ego’s standpoint that someone is your father, mother or child. From a higher standpoint, you recognize that God alone is in all. When you understand that God is embodied in all human beings, you are sacri cing the ego’s value. You are sacri cing your father when
