raising the level of one’s consciousness to the lofty heights of heavenly glory.
In the Yogic tradition, prayer is practiced in many forms:
1. Verbal prayer according to one’s choice.
2. Chanting or reciting scriptural prayers composed
by great Sages and Saints.
3. Japa or the repetition of mantra (the Divine
Name in the form of sacred mystic formulas).
4. Kirtan or singing the Divine Name or the glories
of God.
5. Repetition of mantra along with devout
meditation on the many attributes of God.
6. Allowing the mind to  ow toward God in silent
meditation.
7. Awareness of Divine Presence and total surrender
to God.
In the light of these points, let us study the
Lord’s Prayer:
ß Our Father Who art in Heaven, ß hallowed be Thy Name.
The repetition of Divine Name is the mystical art of glorifying God, His Name, and the Divine qualities implied within that Name. It is also the easiest method of reaching out to God.
