the Divinity. Choose a Divine Name that inspires you and repeat it with the help of a mala (rosary). Along with every repetition, feel that you are being enfolded by the Presence of God. By constant practice, by constantly calling out to God, a Divine association is generated between the unconscious mind and the mantra, the Name of God. Therefore, when the mantra is recited, the unconscious awakens lofty impressions and a Divine Presence manifests.
Similarly, you may sing the Name of God and thus practice kirtan. Any prayer, mantra or Name of God adapted to music or chanted becomes kirtan. Set aside a selected period of time during the day (preferably in the early morning) when you can practice japa or kirtan intensively for half an hour or more. Then, your daily duties are performed with a mind lled with the sublimity of spiritual vibrations.
As you advance, the sense of prayerfulness and the awareness of Divine Presence should permeate your entire existence. A sweet stream of Divine remembrance should continue to ow deep within your heart at all times: while walking, sitting, resting, talking, sleeping—even during the dif cult challenges of life.
