Truth, in fact, is God Himself. In this world of illusion, the only Truth is Brahman, the Absolute Self. The highest practice of truth implies moving towards Brahman and attaining Self-realization. In actuality, untruth has no existence. However, the intellect is dominated by many shadows of falsehood, and these shadows go to form the realities of the world-process. You may nurture the thought that you will become truly happy due to a particular development or because of a relationship with a particular person. Although this may appear to be true for a time, ultimately, this is not truth. However, most human values are sustained by those shadows of falsehood, and many times the mind becomes so submerged in its glue that one cannot even bear listening to the slightest glimmer of truth.
How to Practice Truthfulness
From a relative point of view, truth is practiced on three levels of your personality: thoughts, words, and actions. The thoughts that you entertain within your mind, the words that you speak, and the actions that you perform must all be in harmony with your spiritual movement leading to Self-realization.
Truth on the Level of Thoughts
You are practicing truth on the mental level when you study scriptures under proper guidance and, thereby, allow your mind to be sensitive to the higher
