chapter one 55
If you are established in virtue, you will do what is needed to deserve your desired prosperity and the appropriate fruit of your efforts will be drawn to you spontaneously. If you perform your self-effort in the world without being greedy, everything that you need in your spiritual evolution will manifest automatically. In a mysterious way, Nature will give you what you require, and you will be able to use your prosperity well. Thus, the practice of asteya opens your heart to the abundance of Divine Consciousness and leads you to the treasure of treasures—Self-realization!
Ninth Commandment
Thou shalt not bear false witness.
The ninth commandment—Thou shalt not bear false witness—is profoundly related to satyam (truthfulness) and is one of the basic yamas, or restraints, in Raja Yoga. All Sages and Saints have emphasized the need for practicing truth and have considered this to be the foundation for spiritual movement. To be able to profoundly practice truthfulness on all levels of your personality, your intellect must comprehend what the truth is. If your intellect is unable to comprehend the truth, then you cannot live by it.
