We have honoured and commemorated Canada’s First
World War Airmen. Now, 2019 – Welcome to the
Centennials of The Golden Age of Aviation
The flying years from 1919 to 1939 began with slow,
fabric covered, wooden biplanes and developed over
twenty years into high speed, aluminum skinned,
monoplanes. During this period many aviation ‘Firsts’ 1943 Saint-Donat RCAF Liberator III crash
were accomplished by pioneering pilots and ground
crew. The promise of a rapid delivery method for the
nation’s Royal Mail spurred these early efforts.
