Peter was standing up in the water, beside the Movie Pick of the Month
helicopter and I was amazed because I would have
drowned, if I had been standing where he was. After
studying the fact that Peter was already all wet and I
was dry, a further discussion began. Peter was rather
amused at my suggestion; however, he did agree to
        give it a try.
I gathered up our emergency radio, some dry coveralls,
camera and other basic survival equipment and climbed
down the side of the helicopter, (right onto Peter’s
shoulders), where I squatted and held onto the top of
his blonde head. It took a little coaxing and as I didn’t
want to resort to spurs, at this point, Peter finally pulled
his foot out of the mud and started to move towards
        shore.
Everything was going great and I was encouraging Peter
with all kinds of offers like, (I’ll buy you a steak supper Airplane! (1980)
tonight, when we get back to La Ronge)! Then Peter
started to laugh! If only we could have been on Candid AA | 1h 28min | Comedy | 2 July 1980 (USA
Camera, we would have been Rich or at least famous, A man afraid to fly must ensure that a plane lands
but here we were stuck in the Loon, so close to shore safely after the pilots become sick.
and all that Peter could do was laugh.
What a guy? So I laughed too, in fact I laughed so hard,
(probably letting all that stress out), that I almost lost
my balance, tipping us both over, But I Didn’t. Peter
couldn’t move and I was just within leaping distance to
shore, so I threw the dry clothes, (they were still for
Peter, at this point), and radio onto shore; then leaped.

I made it! Peter finally got free after getting rid of his
burden and crawled out onto shore. We laughed &
laughed and we were very happy that the Lord had
spared us once again and we gave Thanks. Peter
donned my dry coveralls, (which almost covered his Private Pilot Ground School
knees) and we laughed, some more.
Ready to take that first step towards your own pilot license?
My radio message got through to the Fire Center and
my good friend, Brooke Ede, flew out and picked us up. Our next Private Pilot Ground School session begins Monday,
Peter and I still have some pretty funny pictures. The September 11th at 7pm in the RFC Classroom.
