10 YEAR AUTOMOTIVE SECTOR BLUEPRINT
▪ As the automotive industry moves through this period of
transition, it is critical that government and industry work together
to details its policy intentions for the industry, and that the
automotive sector and industry agree to a partnership that
outlines key initiatives and deliverables.
▪ The development of an automotive blueprint, as recommended by
a Senate Economics Reference Committee report – The Future of
Australia’s Automotive Industry, in December 2015 – would
reposition Australia to seize opportunities in global mobility
innovation and assure the nation’s reliance on a national fleet of
20 million vehicles.
▪ The automotive blueprint should include:
o A ten year vision for growth and jobs in the retail , service, repair,
recycling and associated industries of the automotive sector.
o A plan for automotive, mobility and road infrastructure
innovation.
o Prioritised Policy and Regulatory reforms including tax policy,
workforce planning, growth incentives and workplace relations
policy and delivers the necessary policy settings and government
funding necessary to enable effective and planned transition.
