▪ The role of the Australian Industry Skills Committee (AISC) appears
to be largely irrelevant and cumbersome, with a focus on
administration rather than strategic outcomes. It is imperative that
the AISC is agile, truly reflective of industry and able to contribute
to the development of genuine, industry informed training.
▪ Most MTAA Members are key automotive industry training
providers and among the largest employers of automotive
apprentices nationwide and at the forefront of understanding the
qualification and skills requirements of the automotive sector.
▪ As dedicated automotive industry training providers, MTAA
members have close proximity to the industries requirements and
needs – but this relationship with businesses is often overlooked in
whole-of-economy strategies.
▪ MTAA recommends redirecting current funding or apply industry
direct funding for initiatives to targeted regional and rural
automotive jobs with skilled migration, better cities, population
growth and control initiatives and supporting infrastructure. MTAA
also recommends redirect current funding or apply industry direct
funding from programs including Youth PaTH, Restart, NEIS, Career
Transition Assistance, and Transition to work, etc. to an integrated
automotive industry package delivered by MTAA Members.
