                                                E R Y   soon  after this the Little
                                                    House at the foot of the Hill

                                                   was  deserted, and  the family
                                                   took  possession  of  the  Big

                                                    House  on  the  side  of  it.

                            Concerning  the  claim  of  Fairbrass  to  his
                            fortune there was no sort of dispute.  The two

                            old executors, having pocketed their legacies,
                            were  only  too  glad  to  get  rid  of  their
