Fairbrass, before you bid good-bye to me,
remember this. If I have said things to
you that seem hard, it is perhaps because I
know rather too much, it is true that I
have a certain amount of contempt for the
people who come to this church professing;
to do much, and doing next to nothing.
You see, unluckily 1 know that; but I
know, too, that they would be still more
thoughtless if they did not come here at all.
