The GEAR UP trip to the American Museum of Natural History was very different from when I’ve gone there before. Usually, I would look at skeletons and fossils, but this time we went to an exhibit that tested our inner and outer senses. Your inner sense is what you feel on in the inside, like hunger or cold, while your outer senses are the five senses everyone knows. My favorite part was when we sat down and took a look at different optical illusions. Kenneth Koko

Iliked the trip to the American Museum of Natural History because it was different from other museums. You would expect to be learning about ancient stuff, but we learned about the body and how we use our senses. There were plenty of interesting parts of the exhibit, like the video about optical illusions. There was also a part where we had 4 bricks and a timer, and we had to find the same words in English and Russian. My favorite part was the place where you could smell different cakes and other foods by lifting different panels. Wagner Santos

The exhibit we visited at the American Museum of Natural History was really interesting. There was this cool theater that had optical illusions. They play with your mind! One of them was a dinosaur that looked like it was made of different colors, but it was actually made of the same color. Some other interesting parts were the place where you get to smell different foods and the screen that showed you facts about them. It showed a strawberry and how it would deteriorate over time, turning moldy. Joanna Hernandez

The trip to the American Museum of Natural History was interesting. Not only did we get to learn about the five senses everyone knows, but also knew senses that are less well-known. There were plenty of hands-on experiences, like the optical illusions. Optical illusions are images that make you think you’re seeing one thing, but you’re actually seeing something else. They would show them to us and then explain how they work. This type of exhibit would really help with learning about science, especially since it helps you learn about the inner senses, which cover what you feel. The exhibit gave us more information than what we would learn in school. They even included paragraphs to explain what each part is and what it’s teaching you.
