                Beat the Heat

              With almost a heatwave passing through Maharashtra since March 2018, most of
              us have begun feeling the heat and discomfort of the bristling summer this year.
              The acute heat leads to fatigue and in some cases heat stroke too. Hence, it is
              important to identify the difference between a Heat Stroke and Heat Exhaustion.
              Read on to know the difference between the two and what you can do to soothe
              yourself during these hot days:



                                          Heat Exhaustion or Heat Stroke?



              Symptoms of Heat Exhaustion                       Symptoms of Heat Stroke
              • Faint of dizzy                                  • Throbbing headache
              • Excessive sweating                              •  No sweating
              • Cool, pale, clammy skin                         •  Body temperature above 103
              • Nausea, vomiting                                   degrees
              • Rapid and weak pulse                            •  Red, hot, dry skin
              • Muscle cramps                                   •  Nausea, vomiting
                                                                •  Rapid and strong pulse
              Treating Heat Exhaustion                          •  Possible loss of consciousness
              • Move to cooler locations
              • Drink water                                     Treating Heat Stroke
              • Take a cool shower or use cold                  •  Get emergency medical help
                compresses                                      •  Keep cool until treated











                                                  It’s best to wear loose, breathable, cotton
                                                  clothing during the summer. If you must
                                                  work in the sun, make sure you wear a hat,
                                                  sun glasses and use a sun screen. Stay
                                                  hydrated at all times by drinking water in
                                                  frequent intervals, avoid caffeine and let
                                                  your body cool down whenever possible.
