Take the loop over the top of the pile or post,
then pull on the standing part to tighten.Note:
The knot can be pushed down the pile or post
before being tightened.
Constrictor Knot
A BINDING KNOT THAT SIMPLY DOES NOT COME
UNDONE
This variation on the clove hitch (see page 24), once
loaded or otherwise fully tightened, refuses to come
undone. When fully tightened, it is often easier to cut off
than untie. When used as a semipermanent binding, the
rope or cord can be trimmed off short on both sides of the
knot.
