from the board
To Our Laguna Blanca Community,
Greetings! The 2017–2018 school year was a solid one for our beloved school. On
behalf of all of my trustee colleagues who I have the privilege of serving with on the board
and the honor of chairing it, I want to thank everyone who made it such a terrific year
at Laguna Blanca. Special acknowledgment to the amazing faculty, staff, administrators,
Parents’ Auxiliary, alumni, facility team and contributing volunteers, as well as, to the
incredible students who have shown us the power of creativity, innovation, and
thinking big.
As a board of trustees, we are keepers of the school’s mission and our focus is solely
on the long-term health and strength of our school. This school year we are celebrating
2017-2018
BOARD OF TRUSTEES Laguna Blanca’s 85th anniversary, a significant milestone and a legacy we are committed
to celebrate, strengthen, and ensure continuity into the century mark and beyond. We set
our objectives to ensure that we lay the foundation for next generations to come who will
Executive Comittee benefit from our collective efforts in the same manner we are fortunate to benefit from our
Chair predecessors.
Hani Zeini My role as chair is to coalesce the board around the strategic vision of ensuring
continued healthy student enrollment, build a long-term strong financial position for the
Vice Chair school, and assist in promoting the differentiating value proposition that Laguna Blanca
Mason Farrell ’80 delivers. This will ensure that Laguna Blanca continues to be the premier independent
education provider in our community where students in Grades EK-12 are nurtured into
Treasurer their best selves through experiential learning, critical thinking, athletic challenges, artistic
David Bradley ’99 enrichment, leadership development, community service, and global insights.
Secretary To that end, our board objectives are focused on the following areas:
Greg Bartholomew
• Execute on the initiative to establish the Center for Science & Innovation.
Member-At-Large • Strengthen long-term financial position and endowment that underwrites
Dawn Lafitte needed upgrades to our physical campuses, program development, and
modernized systems.
Trustees
Harry Atterbury • Develop and effectively communicate the external message that promotes the
Margaret Baker Laguna Blanca unique value-proposition as a premier EK through 12th Grade
Josh Connor independent school.
Elisabeth Fowler Many of you have heard me on numerous occasions espouse the “No Expiration to a
Karen Fry Laguna Education” mantra. I am pleased to report to you that as trustees, we are hard at
Bob Fuladi work to deliver on and sustain this promise. I am humbled and grateful for your continued
Christian Heyer support to our special school and community!
