Sightseeing
in Shanghai
Sometimes wandering around in Shanghai is like travelling back in the post-WWI Lower Manhattan. Aged stone skyscrapers in multiple architectural styles being left behind by Shanghailanders give travellers the illusion as if they are walking along the early 5th Avenue. In other times, the city's glamorous neon light and fashionable citizens might seem rejectaneous for outsiders, but to those who know her well, she is a modern vibrant society that offers unlimited opportunities to those dream seekers.
THE BUND
Locate at the centre of Shanghai, the Bund as well known as the "Wall Street in the East" for its unique deep history of European influence. Once the most important financial centre in Asia, this waterfront area has 20 historical buildings, including the Jardine Matheson Building, Broadway Mansions, and the grand Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation.
NANKING ROAD
One of the busiest locations to visit in Shanghai is the longest shopping district in the world, the 5.5km long Nanking Road. The pedestrianized East part is home to many famous companies, like Sincere Department Store, Peace Hotel, Wing On Department Store.
Visitors shall expect to see a large crowd of people on the road in weekends and festivals, under the sea of shiny neon billboards.
