Background

Office of Smalland Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP)’s role and mission is to providing
assistances, promotions and supports to SME enterpreneurs of the country. OSMEP has

organized the SME Awards Competition Activity - “SME National Awards” for rewarding to
SMEs which have business excellence management. In addition, this activity enhance the
SME enterpreneurs to improve and develop their business to meet the international

standard level.

SME National Awards have been organized for 10 years. 1st SME National Award was held
in 2006 with the cooperation of Thailand Productivity Institute by adopting Thailand Quality

Award (TQA) as the guidelines. The Awards competitions had been extremely successful;
substantial number of SME business participated in the activities. Therefore, OSMEP carried
on the SME National Awards activity continuously.

In 2019, OSMEP organized 2 types of contests which are firstly, “SME National Awards” for
business which operated more than 3 years and its target business groups consist of
4 main industrial sectors in 21 business sectors. Secondly, “SME Start up Awards” for business

which operated less than 3 years without any limitations of target business groups. Guidance
on Sufficient Economy for Industries (TISI 9999) and Thailand Quality Award (TQA) were
applied as the criteria for use in making appropriate considerations and decisions which are
corresponding to purpose of the project.

Objetcives

- To select SME which have business excellence management according to the award

criteria, transparency and good corporate governance.
- To create Role Model of SMEs which continually improve their business operations
and managements

- To inspire and strengthen SME enterpreneurs to improve performance & enhance
their competiveness in both national and international level.
