Our History
In the Summer of 1961 John Low, with
the help of family and friends, began
cutting trails to create a family oriented
ski area which they called Mansfield
Skiways.
On Saturday, December 22nd, 1962,
the first T-bar went into operation and
Mansfield officially opened its slopes to
skiers. Mansfield Skiways steadily grew
from its modest beginnings, a rental
fleet of 20 pairs of skis with a ski school
of two instructors and in 1983 a group
of season pass holders purchased the
ski area and the new Mansfield Ski Club
was formed.
Mansfield is a true skiers’ and
snowboarders’ club, directed by its
members. There is something special
about belonging to a private ski
community where you watch your kids
grow up and create memories that they
will carry with them into adulthood. It is
not uncommon at our club to see
children, parents and grandparents all
skiing together on the slopes.
