As we age, we lose hair in the brow area. So, doing a thicker brow will give your client a more youthful look. Build this up with a more rich product if your client lacks brow hair (use a brow pomade rather then an eyeshadow).
We want to highlight the eyes but not highlight any wrinkles. Try focusing the most product right at the lash line. You can use a brown or black eyeliner and smudge it out at the lash line. Apply a white eyeliner in the waterline to help brighten up the eyes. Always use waterproof mascara, so the mascara doesn’t smudge on the eyelids. Your eyelids get oily as you mature, and it is easier for the mascara to move around. Always work with matte colours op- posed to shimmers.
Unfortunately, as we age, we lose volume in our lips as well. Start with a lip liner to define the lips, using a shade close to the lipstick colour, if not identical. While picking a lipstick, use something that is semi- matte, so it does not bleed into the lip lines. If you have to apply gloss, only apply to the centre pout of the lip. Use a translucent set- ting powder around the mouth, so the product has fewer chances to move/bleed. Teeth become discoloured as we age. Use shades with warm undertones— as cool under- tones emphasize discolouration.
One of the big things that give away anyone’s age is the neck. While this is something that is not necessary for ev- ery day— it is essential for an event or photoshoot. Apply foundation onto the neck for a seamless and flawless look. If you have an airbrush foundation, bonus!
