PROFESSIONALISM
Your personality plays a huge role in this industry. Always be professional, patient, have positive energy, and understand how to read your client’s energy (and the room). It is also important to be mindful of the client by not wearing too much perfume, making sure you do not have bad breath, and wearing deodorant.
WORKING WITH HIGH PROFILE CLIENTS
If you are working for a celebrity, be easy going, and know boundaries. Understand that there is a time and place to ask for an autograph, and on the job is probably not an appropriate time. A celebrity will appreciate you if you are cool, calm, and collected (this is how you get booked again). Wear simple black clothing so that you blend into the background.
If you work for yourself, it’s very important to have boundaries. Don’t respond to clients during all hours of the night if you don’t want to be taken advantage of. Stick to one platform such as email for all client communication.
UNHAPPY CLIENTS
A client not loving the way you did their eyebrows, for example, may happen. Always remember that at the end of the day it’s just makeup. Ensure that you maintain a good attitude, and leave your client feeling beautiful and happy.
EMAIL SIGNATURE
It is very important that you include your logo, links to your work, and your contact information in your email signature as everyone will see this. You can also include a few accomplishments, and any relevant information that is important for people to know.
