        This knot looks like a slippery half hitch, but it’s not. The mooring hitch holds fast under
        load yet comes apart instantly with a pull of the working end. You can tie it loosely and

        allow it to slide up to the rail like a slip knot, or jam the knot anywhere along its length so
        you can reach and release it without getting off your horse or out of your boat. This slick
        little hitch is well worth learning!
