Use this classic lashing to secure two spars that touch each other at the point where they
cross. Begin the lashing with a clove hitch or timber hitch around the vertical spar, just
below the cross piece ( A ). Run the cord over the horizontal bar ( B ), around behind the
vertical bar, then back over the face of the horizontal bar on the left. Tighten snugly, then
bring the cord behind the vertical bar and up the right front side of the horizontal bar.
Repeat this three or four times. Finish with two “frapping” (binding) turns to tighten the
lashing and lock everything in place with a clove hitch on the crosspiece.
