Culinary Students Serve SC Legislators at SCRLA Hospitality Day

After taking third place in the South Carolina
ProStart Competition, our Culinary Arts stu-
dents were again invited to participate in the
South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Associa-
tion’s Hospitality Day held annually at the State
House on April 19, 2023. Culinary Arts students
served and interacted with state legislators to
gain invaluable experience in the hospitality
industry. They served a pared down menu used to place in the ProStart Competition,
which comprised the following: Herbed Lamb Tenderloin with Caponata and Parsley
Oil; Greek Trifle of Lemon Curd, Orange Sponge Cake, Ouzo Blackberries, Whipped
Cream, Sumac. They did a great job representing DMTC!

NTHS and Intro. to Teaching Participate in Service Project

The new Introduction to Teaching Program partnered with
National Technical Honor Society to facilitate Daniel Morgan’s
annual March of Dimes service project. Students collected
donations for a variety of items for newborns and assembled
“take-home” bags for local families with babies in the NICU. Thank you to all the stu-
dents, staff, and community members who provided donations!
