 FEEDBACK (CONTINUED)
MEDIUM IMPACT, HIGH DIFFICULTY
Two ideas were seen as having the potential to create a positive impact, but were seen as harder to execute in terms of time and effort:
• Build a social enterprise – While this idea had the potential to have a positive impact on MDS and its customers, there were a number of concerns around difficulty of execution. MDS is keen to explore this option as they are keen to grow their business and uncover new greener pastures for the business. It was noted in the discussions that there was a lack of successful case studies as it was difficult to maintain long-term sustainability of social enterprises, but they are willing to explore this opportunity.
• Launch a MDS product line – This idea was seen as a spin-off of the social enterprise idea, so evaluations of the two ideas were the same. Most of the executive team agreed that the product line had potential, as other similar products available online were seen as greatly desirable.
LOW IMPACT AND/OR HIGH DIFFICULTY
Three ideas were either seen as having low impact or were difficult to execute, so they were de-prioritised:
• Repurpose unused assets – The logistics of this concept was deemed too difficult to execute, especially repurposing transport assets which was seen as ‘messy’ due to the large number of obligations and insurances needed. The executive team were also unsure of the value to MDS and pointed out that MDS assets were mostly used.
• Establish a NDIS crowd sourced community platform – There is an existing platform called ‘Grassroots’ which has many of the same features of this concept, so MDS would need to rethink the idea and think of how to differentiate it. The executive team were also unsure how to draw people to the platform and how to charge for using it.
• Set up a BuddyUP program – This idea was de-prioritised as it was noted that MDS staff already provide assistance to participants and it was difficult to start charging families for it, especially when families were most likely unwilling to pay out of pocket. There were also concerns around human rights issues and the concept of ‘purchasing a friend’.
