ACTIVELY BUILD PARTNERSHIPS
The ‘actively build partnerships’ concept is an opportunity to build relationships with stakeholders to generate new business for MDS. Potential stakeholders include staff within MDS, the wider community, government agencies and parents. Other responsibilities of the business development person range from identifying funding opportunities to identifying potential growth areas for MDS.
LAUNCH A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE
The MDS executive team and The Strategy Group identified six potential social enterprises. These included:
• Petcare
• Printingservices
• MDSproductline(eithercreatingaproductoractingasareseller) • Eventhampers,eventuallyprogressingtoeventspecialists
• EasyReadtranslationservice
• Cleaningservices
After a voting process, the Easy Read and cleaning service concepts were chosen to be built out in a workshop. By the end of the workshop, the MDS leadership team determined the Easy Read concept had greater
feasibility and viability in the short-term. The cleaning services concept has potential and is seen as a second option after Easy Read.
