Andrew Carpenter
Andrew Carpenter, who is Professor of English at University College Dublin, was educated
at Oxford and at UCD. His main research interest is in Swist and his contemporaries, and his two most recent books are anthologies entitled Verse in English from Tudor and Stuart Ireland (2003) and Verse in English from Eighteenth-Century Ireland (1998). He was until recently Head
of the UCD School of English, Drama and Film, and is currently senior vice-president of the International Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies.
Valerie Coghlan
Valerie Coghlan is Librarian at the Church of Ireland College of Education, Dublin, where she also lectures on children’s literature and visual literacy. She lectures
on postgraduate courses at St. Patrick’s College, Drumcondra, Dublin, and at University College Dublin. With Siobhán Parkinson she co-edits Bookbird: an International Journal of Children’s Literature and is a former review editor of Inis: the Children’s Books Ireland Magazine. She has co- edited several critical works about children’s literature and is active in children’s literature organisations in Ireland and overseas.
Eibhlín Evans
Eibhlín Evans grew up in Dublin before moving to England where she gained a PhD in English
and Philosophy. She taught in universities there for many years before returning to Dublin in 2004. Since then she has been
a member of the School of English and Drama at UCD.
She has published academic articles, essays and reviews and has edited a collection of essays on Irish writing. She has also given talks, lectures and interviews on literary subjects and has been closely involved in the Dublin One City One Book initiative.
