Tenants Newsletter | Winter 2025\u000ATenant Frequently Asked Questions \u2013 Everything You Need to Know:\u000A Noel McArdle\u000AEducation and\u000ATraining Bursary Funding\u000AThank you to all tenants who applied for the Noel McArdle Education and Training Bursary Funding 2025. The bursary aims to provide equitable access to education and training by assisting with tuition fees, learning materials, and other essential educational and training expenses All applications were assessed and from all received NEHA awarded six tenants an education and training bursary between \u20AC350 - \u20AC700.\u000AWe are aware some applicants were disappointed not be awarded funding this year and would urge them to reapply next year. North and East Housing is delighted to support our tenants in their education and training journeys and look forward to sharing these stories to all tenants in the coming months. Through this initiative, we remain committed to empowering our tenants as learners, promoting academic excellence, and investing in the future of our communities.\u000ACongratulations to all awardees.\u000AWarm & Well\u000AAs the cold weather creeps in, it is important all tenants stay warm and well, below are some ideas to help you do this over the coming months:\u000AKeeping warm\u000A\u2022 Keep the rooms you spend most of time in warm\u000A\u2022 Wear several layers of light clothes instead of one thick layer\u000A\u2022 Wear clothes made from wool, cotton, fleece\u000A\u2022 Keep your head, hands, and feet warm\u000A\u2022 Wear thermal layers during the winter\u000A\u2022 Use a hot-water bottle\u000A\u2022 Put extra blankets or duvets on your bed.\u000A\u2022 Wear warm night clothes, for example\u000Along-sleeved pyjamas, and socks\u000A\u2022 Keep a flask with a hot drink on your\u000Abedside table.\u000AFire Safety for All \u2013 PART2\u000AFire safety awareness is essential for protecting lives, property, and the environment. Fires can start unexpectedly, often spreading quickly, so knowing how to prevent them and respond effectively is crucial. By learning basic safety measures, and knowing how to react in an emergency, you can significantly reduce the risk of injury or damage.\u000AWhat to look out for in your apartment building:\u000A\u2022 All apartment front doors and doors on corridors and staircases are \u2018self-closing\u2019 fire doors, these doors must \u2018self-close\u2019 properly and not be held or wedged open\u000A\u2022 The fire detection and alarm system in the apartment is working and is tested weekly by you\u000A\u2022 A fire blanket is provided in the apartment\u000A\u2022 Common escape routes shared by other\u000Aapartments have emergency lighting, a fire detection and alarm system and fire extinguishers maintained and tested by the landlord\u000A\u2022 Items are not stored in corridors or staircases\u000A\u2022 Storage on balconies is kept to a minimum\u000A\u2022 Barbeques are not used on balconies\u000A\u2022 Everyone who lives in the building knows the\u000Aevacuation plan.\u000AWhat should I do if there is a fire?\u000AIf your apartment is being affected by fire or smoke and your escape route is clear:\u000A\u2022 Geteveryoneout,closeallwindowsanddoors, and walk calmly out of the building\u000A\u2022 Do not use the lift\u000A\u2022 Call 999 or 112, give your address (including\u000AEircode), the number of your apartment and state\u000Awhich floor the fire is on\u000A\u2022 Get out and stay out!\u000AIf there is a fire or smoke inside your apartment but your escape route is NOT clear:\u000A Any tenant who has an issue with their heating should contact NEHA immediately to report\u000Athe issue by emailing us at supportdesk@neha.ie or calling us on 01-8200002.\u000A\u2022 \u2022\u000A\u2022 \u2022\u000AIt may still be safer to stay in your apartment until the fire brigade arrives\u000AFind a safe room, close the door, and use soft materials to block any gaps to stop the ingress of smoke\u000AGo to a window, shout and beckon for help and call 999 or 112\u000ABe ready to describe where you are and the quickest way to reach you.\u000A 5\u000A
