          SERVING AS ONE 2019-2020
YOUTH MINISTRY
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin. 1 John 1:7
Youth Ministry is about focusing on relationships. Through intentional relationships with mentors and peers, Youth Ministry at Scioto Ridge equips and empowers middle and high school students to grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. We do this through structured events like Youth Fellowship, retreats, and mission trips. We also strengthen relationships through other events like Homework Club, lock-ins, and impromptu gatherings.
Youth Fellowship (YF) is the weekly gathering of our youth each Sunday night. We have games, lessons, and dinner which provides time for youth to gather and share with one another about their week.
Youth Homework Club meets every Wednesday and youth students come to the church after school to work on homework together. Here they have an opportunity to work together and receive help from others.
Lakeside is the camp that our high school youth attend each summer. It is a week spent in the Lakeside community where they have opportunities to worship, hear talented speakers, and experience plenty of bonding time.
Messtival is an event that kicks off each new year in August. We play messy games and have a blast to capture the last bit of summer fun.
Confirmation classes begin each January for those in sixth grade, but all youth who have not participated before are welcome to join. We have weekly classes which set the groundwork of our faith journey.
Youth Retreats allow for an incredible time of bonding with one another. Each retreat is filled with opportunities to learn through lessons and have fun away from home.
Youth Basketball League takes place in January and February. Our group participates in a youth basketball league hosted by Meadow Park. We are a co-ed league that invites youth from sixth through twelth grade. There might be ice cream involved too!
Youth Mission Trip is an opportunity for middle and high schoolers to leave their communities and cultures and serve other members of God’s kingdom. Each year, we travel to Henderson Settlement in Frakes, Kentucky and assist in the maintenance of the facilities that
support their community. Youth and adults alike can serve in this missional opportunity.
Youth Lock-Ins are basically sleepovers but bigger. We stay at the church overnight and have fun using the space of the whole building.
Vacation Bible School Youth Afternoons happen after the youth have served and shared the love of Christ with kids from our community. When morning VBS is done, the youthventureoutintothecommunity to have fun and enjoy their time with
