 SERVING AS ONE 2019-2020
CARE & COMMUNITY
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor.
Romans 12:10
The Bible tells us that we are set apart to love and care for those around us. Faith and good works belong together. What we believe must be shown through our actions. Many of those actions take place in the form of congregational and community care. Below you will find many ways in which the congregation of Scioto Ridge cares for each other and those outside our walls.
Prayer Shawl Ministry team members gather to knit prayer shawls that symbolize the healing presence of God. After a time of knitting, they gather around the shawls and pray for the people who will receive them. Scioto Ridge prayer shawls have traveled all over the globe, letting people know that God is with them in sickness and difficult times.
Prayer Concerns can be submitted through the website, by filling out a Connect Card each Sunday, or calling the office. We are a congregation that prays together. Prayer concerns are sent to a network of prayer warriors ready to connect with God on behalf of others.
Sunday Morning Prayer Team
gathers in Wesley Prayer Chapel to pray for the services and offer care to people in need of prayer. They invite the Holy Spirit to be present and fill each seat, hallway, and room with the presence of God.
Barnabas Ministry servants make sureourcollegestudentsfeeltheloveof their church family. During the school year, a group of individuals make sure these young adults receive thoughtful and intentional gifts like homemade cookies and devotional books.
DivorceCare is a network of over 15,000 churches worldwide equipped to offer divorce support groups. The program is nondenominational and features practical information and

is designed to bring people together who have lost a loved one to death. The sessions consist of a Christian- based video and group discussion. No matter where you are in your stage of grief, this group is open to you.
Box Lunch Program prepares boxed lunches for those in need of a homemade meal. Whether it’s for a homebound senior or an ill congregation member, the sight of a friendly face always brings joy and lifted spirits.
Funeral Meal Team is a truly inspirational group of people who come together at a moments notice and provide meals when families are
in the midst of their grief. This group knows the importance of the service they are providing when they are preparing a homemade luncheon for a Celebration of Life service.
Health and Wellness Team
members know that a relationship exists between one’s mind, body and spirit. When any one of these parts are in distress, the others are affected as well. The Health and Wellness Ministry’s mission is to provide information and knowledge that will help raise awareness of the relationship between health and spirituality.
Parish Nurse Program is an integral part of the Health and Wellness Ministry at Scioto Ridge. A Parish Nurse is someone who responds to the health needs of people within a congregational setting. The Parish Nurse can help individuals in our church family with health-related questions; support during recovery from illness or crisis; provide assistance in understanding medications, medical equipment, or diet plans; and provide referrals to community and professional resources.
Hospital Visitations occur as part of our Health and Wellness Ministry. This includes visits to hospitals for those having surgery, recovering from illness, and healing from injury.
Blood Pressure Screenings are held after worship services on a regular basis so that our church family
