A passion for cooking and a belief that the correct kitchen
tools should be used when baking and cooking was the
catalyst for Elisabeth Hodgson to inspire others to do the
same.

While teaching cooking classes to small groups at her home
in Johannesburg in the early 1970's, Elisabeth saw first-
hand how having the correct tools helped the learners to
prepare their dishes perfectly. She came to the realisa on
that every cook, professional or amateur, would benefit
from having a properly equipped kitchen. As there were
very few kitchen shops in South Africa in 1974, Elisabeth
started impor ng kitchen tools, gadgets and cookbooks
into South Africa and selling them to her students.

A er reloca ng to Cape Town in 1977, Elisabeth decided to
concentrate on growing her wholesale business, now
named The Elisabeth Hodgson Kitchen and her rela vely
small range of items became much larger and helped
establish the company as one of the go-to suppliers for
essen al kitchen tools in South Africa.

Since October 1985 EHK has been located in Newlands,
Cape Town and is s ll supplying the best and most essen al
products available countrywide. The personal touch,
desire to build rela onships and passion for the products
that Elisabeth holds dear remains at the core of our
company culture, and Elisabeth remains an integral part of
the business and a key decision maker in the selec on of
products.
