They become restless due to their anxiety. Anxious at night (before midnight), fear of the future and poverty, fear of thunder, fear of lack of food, fear of suffocating.
Ailments can be due to anger, with grief (silent grief), humiliation, disdain of others, they want to get away from their troubles (but they do not want to move!).
Aggravated by cold wind, eating too much, anger, cough, drinking cold drinks when heated, food intoxications, suppression of discharge.
Differentiation with other Cucurbitaceae:
Colocynthis: looks for relief by bending in two or bending backwards (back or hip pains).
Their aetiology is typically a contradiction: they are ‘forced to bend’ (whereas Bryonia is more to do with not being able to have their security). The remedy is better for slow movement.
Ecabalium Elatrum: (gastero-enteritis, neuralgia). Explosive diarrhoea or vomiting – olive-green containing tapioca-like grains. Yawning with fever. Need to stretch. Wants to get out of bed and escape outside (in the countryside).
According to the AFADH:

Themes of working, business and money point to their desire for economic security in the future: fear of being hungry, not having enough money to buy food in the future. They also look for the security of a house, protection. Fear of falling under the control of strangers.
