                          Technical Libeaeies

                  Scientific research in industry is yet in its
               infancy.   It has, however, received a great
               impetus from the war and both in the United
               States and in England the Government is
               officially aiding in its extension.
                 In 1915 the Society of Chemical Industry
               in England, after extended discussion at its
               annual meeting, passed a resolution  "  that the
               estabhshment of technical hbraries through-
               out  the  counties  is  of  urgent   material
               importance."    The Committee on Adult
               Education of the British Ministry of Recon-
               struction has in its recent reports pointed to
               the lack of facihties for technical education
               and has recommended the wider extension of
               technical  libraries throughout  the United
               Kingdom. The Privy        Council has    been
               urging associations of British employers to
               engage in industrial research, and has been
