The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Norman C. Knodt, Warrant Officer, United States Army, Troop C, 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry for heroism while participating in aerial flight, evidenced by voluntary action above and beyond the call of duty in the Republic of Vietnam: Warrant Officer Knodt distinguished himself by exceptionally valorous action on 11 August, 1968, while serving as an aircraft commander of an armed helicopter with Troop C, 1st Squadron, 9th Cavalry during a combat mission in the Republic of Vietnam.
