I did ask why he came to see Wolves. He said in his leadership roles he embraces the Wolves for their success as a pack. He was not specific, but my knowledge is that these creatures survived the ice age because of the respect and loyalty for the leaders and utilizing the talents of the other members of the pack. Most wildlife biologists will tell you that they are the most unlikely species to survive based on the fact that they cannot eviscerate their prey which can weigh up to 700 pounds or more. They have endurance, jaw pressure and each other...that’s it. Those aspects seem to be enough. Their main form of death in the wild is getting kicked and gored by their prey and at the hand of men with guns. Like us, they will fight to death for territory, but we have evidence that they are very respectful of each other’s boundaries. They will invade when resources are not at levels the pack can survive on. When invaded, the leaders sacrifice themselves for the pack. When the Alphas are killed the rest of the pack sometimes fall apart and they do not survive. They are physically vulnerable to knee and head injuries as well as loss of limbs to traps set by hunters. We are similar species in so many ways.
I wish I could measure the healing that happens with an experience with the Wolves. Then there would be data that would be helpful as a method of healing...but alas, only the Wolves and the people who are changed forever know. They looked into each other’s eyes, touched each other literally, emotionally, energetically and spiritually. We have been given a gift and we are honored to share these amazing creatures who intuitively know when you are hurting and want to help.
We also have a program called “Wolves and Wellness.” This includes but is not limited to those recovering from Drugs and Alcohol which usually uncovers deep traumas of
