an experimental procedure that they stopped doing because it did not work. It actually ended up making my shoulder condition worse.
I'm too young for shoulder replacement. They tried a spinal cord stimulator, but the doctor didn't place it high enough, so it doesn't help my right shoulder. I am trying to get that taken out because it covers my left shoulder, but it's supposed to cover both shoulders and my neck. And the battery still moves around. I just don't like it. To this day I do not understand how I became so damaged in such a short period of time and why I did not get the care I deserved. I have had to have multiple surgeries as a result. The 'treatment' I did get was calling me a shitbag and sending me back to duty. I remember my stress fractures in my pelvis were so painful and I walked funny. They made me the Guidon Bearer just to make fun of me. Of course, there were also a lot of sex jokes relating to my pelvis like, "How did you get stress fractures there?"
I have one regular Service Dog (Truman, a Mastiff/Boxer mix) and Mobility Service Dog (Bessie, a Black Labrador). Bessie is still in training but she is already a wonderful help at home when I experience mobility issues.
Bessie came to me from Puppies for Parole via the Missouri Department of Corrections. Honestly, I am glad I had Truman first, because they worked with me on how to communicate with him, and maintain his training. The first time I met a friend with a Service Dog, her dog wrapped himself around me. And I said, "What's wrong with your dog?" She turned around and said, "what's wrong with you? You have PTSD don't you?" So, I filled out the application and then waited for the longest time, then found out they had apparently lost the application, so I filled another one out.
