blurred vision, slurred speech, things like that. And the heat or the cold always makes it worse symptom wise. I have experienced all 50 symptoms...just not all at the same time.
I am still going to the VA for issues relating to TBI. In a few months I will be going to have some evaluations done. When I was in Iraq I got blown up five times and I suffered three concussions after being hit by IED’s. There were no field hospitals for medical treatment so we pretty much just went right back to work afterwards. In one of the situations we were driving down the road and I was in the back of a seven ton and an IED went off and a big rock hit me in the Kevlar. All we had medical wise was the Field Corpsman...so that basically meant little to no medical treatment. For the other events, I was just riding in a Humvee and IEDs went off and we basically blacked out. That is all I can remember from those events. I do recall that we got hit by a Vehicle Borne IED (VBIED) and the engine of the other vehicle actually hit my Humvee. When the VBIED exploded it launched its engine at our vehicle.
When I was serving in Japan I got bit by a Okinawan Habu Pit Viper while we were training. We were on a maneuver in the middle of the jungle and I was laying down, and me being partially color blind I didn't realize that I had laid down next to the snake. I got bit in my right calf. I had to walk out of the jungle because they couldn't fly me out as the jungle was too dense, and the Corpsman didn't have any anti-venom (because it had to be kept refrigerated). They just told me how much time I had and we made it out of there.
My Service Dog Nicholas walks right next to me whenever I need him for stability. This even includes when I am outside mowing the grass...he is right there at my side. He's awesome.
