I am embarrassed that I wasn’t able to set the example and honor our lost by attending while I was still ‘in country’ but I always made sure, when I was doing Casualty Reporting, that I received all required information and transmitted it to the appropriate entities so I could ensure that personnel would be properly recognized or taken care of in relation to combat related injuries.
I was often called a ‘Bulldog’ because of my stubbornness, but I wouldn’t have been any other way. It was the only way I could be sure that ‘my’ combat injured personnel were taken care of.
Karin and I both had to deal with, and overcome, trust related issues.
