CHAPTER 19 - SAFE HARBOR
Kai the Cavapoo (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel/Poodle) - Karin: I served in the Army and my position was Single Channel Radio Operator/Satellite Communication and I was also a Clerk in the Army Reserve. I was Delayed Entry 6/1989-1/1990; Basic through Active Duty/Reserve 1/1990-5/1996; Fort Campbell 8/1990 to 7/1992; Desert Shield/Desert Storm (with 101st) 9/1990 to 4/1991; Camp Market, Korea 7/1992 to 9/1993 (Active Reserve Unit); and McConnell Air Force Base (Active Reserve Unit), 89th ARCOM 9/1993 to 5/1996; and Inactive Ready Reserve 5/1996-6/1997.
I felt that I needed to serve my country. It was a calling. I also used it as an avenue to further my education. If a child or family member of mine ever decided to join the armed services...that they were called to serve...then I would support them all the way. Service in the military helps one grow up and get discipline unlike any other job.
I used the GI Bill and it paid for my Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education. I finished that back in 1996. I finished when I was still in the military. I was able to utilize my degree for around 15 years until my PTSD got too bad then they Medically Retired me.
