The VA just started me on acupuncture now. And it is actually helping. I am trying to avoid surgery so this was a welcome option. It is really helping. I haven't had to take my pain pills in a couple weeks now, other than maybe Tylenol. I was very skeptical about this sort of treatment. It was like, yeah...I don't know about this. After two weeks...well I think I am on my 4th or 5th week now...I am just amazed. The sciatica issues I have had decades, it's like I can sit now and not have pain...I can walk and not have pain. It's amazing. I would lay on my stomach and they would place the needles, which were made from bamboo shoots, that were really fine, thin, and flexible. They are placed in different pressure points on your body where your paid in. They put multiple bamboo needles in different pressure points, and leave it for 10 minutes. It's a very serene room, there is soft music playing, so it's really relaxing. And they come back after 10-15 minutes and remove all of the needles, it's that quick.
I was raped by multiple men while in the military over in the Gulf War. One thing about the first rape I will say...I did report to my up line SSG who questioned me and seemed compassionate, but then he concluded that "it was my fault"! On top of that the rapist was an MP...not an enemy combatant. Because of this I was sure not going to go to the MPs who made sure that no charges came against one of their own.
One rape was much more traumatic and severe than the others. Granted the rapes did not help my physical issues but the emotional trauma was worse. My injuries, the trauma I experienced, my PTSD, anxiety, depression and other issues have all compounded, have led to personal isolation and stopped me from being able to work. I was medically retired from working in 2012
