Recently an enlisted Marine came to spend the night in a Cottage we make available to the public for Thanksgiving weekend. He was part of several teams during his long career that called themselves Wolf packs. He had a Wolf that looked like our wolf Tehya tattooed on his arm. He had done several tours overseas. Forgive me for not being able to share much about their experience. It is theirs after all. Most don’t speak about it. We try not to pry, but what we witness is kind of indescribable. It is not a simple thing, it is just extraordinary. The best he could do is to say he slept better here than he had slept in years. The sound of the Wolves howling in the night was what he loved the most.
I did ask why he came to see Wolves. He said in his leadership roles he embraces the Wolves for their success as a pack. He was not specific, but my knowledge is that these creatures survived the ice age because of the respect and loyalty for the leaders and utilizing the talents of the other members of the pack.
