                Karl David  Nordstrom  was baptized, confirmed, and ordained into the Lutheran ministry at

                Thabor  Lutheran  Church,  Wausa.  He  attended  Luther  Junior  College,  Wahoo;  Bethany
                College, Lindsborg, KS; and received a Master of Divinity degree from Augustana Theological
                Seminary, Rock Island, IL. He did further study at Maywood Seminary School of Missions and
                doctoral study at McCormick Seminary, both of Chicago. He married Joan Marie Nelson at
                Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Wahoo June 7, 1959.

                In  1963  he  was  called  to  serve  the  Quad-Lutheran  Parish  at  Sharon  Springs  and  Tribune,
                Kansas. He entered the U.S. Navy as a Chaplain in 1966, with duty at  Corpus Christi, TX;
                DaNang,  Vietnam;  Beaufort,  SC;  USS  NASHVILLE;  Virginia  Beach  and  Portsmouth,  VA.
                From 1973 to 2000 he served parishes at Osceola, NE; Lake Jackson, TX; Omaha, Holdrege,
                and Byron,  NE. Retirement took him to Holdrege, Kearney, and Fremont where he became a
                member of Sinai Lutheran Church.

                “Pastor Dave” most enjoyed preaching, teaching, and visiting his parishioners in their homes.
                He was active in community organizations and American Legion and VFW and was a Scout
                leader. He coached a Legion teenage baseball team that won the season championship trophy.
                He loved his growing family, travel, classical music, and sports. He may be remembered at
                Sinai for his heartfelt “AMEN” following the sermon. He died at Dunklau Gardens Comfort
                Care surrounded by family.

                He is survived by his wife; sons and daughter and spouses; grandchildren:  Nicole (Decker)
                Derdyn,  Emily  (Jared)  Burns,  Benjamin  (Rebekah)  Noble,  Allison  (William)  Lee,  Abigail
                (Reagan) Bergen, Lauren (Cameron) Morford, Kathryn (Andrew) Johnson, Ryan (Courtney)
                Nordstrom,  Tyler  (Elizabeth)  Nordstrom,  Nathan  Nordstrom,  Erik  Nordstrom,  Meddie
                Nordstrom;  9  great-grandchildren;  brother  Evan  (Carolyn)  Nordstrom,  sister-in-law  Janice
                (Douglas) Gustafson.
