A; Give examples of everyday activities that require good reading skills.
Б: There are many activities in our everyday life that require good reading
skills. For example, we read newspapers to learn the news. We read labels
on boxes, cans, and إ ars to know what we are eating. We need to read
street signs so we don’t get lost.
                     A: Why is reading important?
B: Reading is important if we want to learn something new..

A: Is it important to have pictures, maps, and illustrations in books?
B: Yes, it is. Pictures, maps, and illustrations give US a visual image of the
main characters, events, and settings of books.
A: Can there ever be too manypictures in a book?
B: Yes, sometimes there are too many pictures. I still think the best part of
reading a book is imagining things in the story.
A: Can you think of any books that have lots ofpictures?
B: A lot of my school books have pictures, but that’s because we need
pictures to help US learn more about science and other su^ects.

                ñ PLACESTOSTUDY

A: Why do some people prefer to study in the library?
B: Some people prefer to study in the library because they can do research,
or they can firrd more books on the subject that they are studying. Also,
the atmosphere in the library is good for helping you focus on what you're
                        studying.
A: ١٨^ere do you usually study?
B: I usually study in my room at home.
A: ^y don't you study in the library?
B: The library is too quiet. If I study there, I usually fall asleep.
