Clinical Assessments
• Pressure Ulcer Prevalence
• Quality Management of Pressure Ulcer Risk
These assessments provide detailed evaluations of population characteristics, clinical outcomes and concordance with clinical protocols. The reports identify areas of best practice and those areas that would benefit from targeted interventions, enabling healthcare providers to manage their legal and patient/client safety obligations while monitoring costs.
Increasingly customers want to compare the quality of care provided in their facility against certain benchmarks or to evaluate their own performance over time.
Case Mix Adjustment
This is a unique service only available through Arjo and is based on a consistent methodology following years of dedicated research and analysis, focused upon improving patient/resident safety and clinical outcomes. The process allows the comparison of a facility’s prevalence results against the national profile and/or their own prior year(s) results. Using a contemporary national database a calculated “expected” pressure ulcer rate is compared to the “observed” pressure ulcer rate within the local population to provide information as to how they are performing against a national benchmark.
The Pressure Ulcer Quality Management Report is a short, graphical, supplementary report using case mix adjusted data, to describe the quality of care delivered in two areas:
1. How preventative care in the critical pre-admission period measures
against clinical practice guidelines
2. How the subsequent outcome measures against a National
reference
The report concentrates on acquired category 2 to 4 wounds, which
are those typically associated with increased morbidity, length of stay and cost of care. The goal is to refocus effort towards prevention rather than treatment, with the expectation that this will drive improvements in clinical outcome, raise standards in the quality of care delivered, and thus reduce facility costs.
