ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM - EXHAUST PRESSURE SENSOR 11-49

                 EXHAUST PRESSURE SENSOR 11

                 HOW IT WORKS

The exhaust pressure sensor is mounted on the
exhaust manifold, which is used primarily to measure
exhaust pressures of the exhaust manifold. The
engine control module (ECM) uses this information
to control the operation of the emissions and exhaust
gas recirculation (EGR) valves. The ECM provides
an 5V power source to the exhaust pressure sensor
through the sensor power circuit. The ECM also
provides a ground to the sensor circuit. The exhaust
pressure sensor provides a signal to the ECM
through the exhaust pressure sensor signal circuit.
The signal voltage of the sensor will vary depending
on the changes of the exhaust manifold pressure.
