AXLE AND PROPELLER SHAFT - FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY 34-7

ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1 . Check the Front Axle Windage
(a) Park the vehicle on a flat road.
(b) Engage the shift to N and the park brake handle assembly.

(c) Mark the transmission shaft universal joint
and main reducer pinion flange assembly to
facilitate assembly.
CAUTION

Ensure the marks are clear and visible.

(d) Unscrew 4 bolts and remove the transmission
shaft.

CAUTION

Do not reuse the removed bolts.

(e) Rotate the main reducer pinion flange
assembly counterclockwise by hand, until it
can no longer turn. Mark the main reducer
pinion flange assembly and main reducer
housing to facilitate alignment.
CAUTION

Ensure the marks are clear and visible.
