Our vision was to get more space, launch the Center for Progressive Education at Presidio Hill School, and given Scott’s retirement, recruit a head of school to lead us into the future. Look what we have accomplished!
Our footprint has expanded by nearly 50%, giving our faculty and students more space to engage in the rich programming our school has to o er. The Center for Progressive Educa- tion had two apprentice teachers and held its rst event with educators from around the Bay Area. And we recruited a head of school with the experience, passion, and drive to lead us into the future. It is not just what our community has accomplished, it is how we have done it.
This year our students learned that deadlines are not always met, that building innovative and expansive pro- grams takes patience, and that people we love sometimes move on. We showed them that things that appear to be setbacks o er opportunities in the end. We taught our students and ourselves how to be resilient. We were open with each other. We recognized disappointment and we celebrated ac- complishments, and all along the way we made decisions guided by the pro- gressive values that have shaped our school for nearly 100 years.
“We taught our students and ourselves how to be resilient. We recognized disappoint- ment; and we celebrated accomplishments.”
Transitions like the ones we have been through and will experience in the coming year require a vast amount
of generosity in time, passion, and money. But most importantly, they re- quire a community to come together for a common purpose. We did that, and along the way, we modeled for our students how a community works together to achieve a collective and ambitious goal. Thank you for all that you have done. I am con dent that the strength and support of our commu- nity will provide the foundation to shepherd PHS through the transitions in the coming year.
Our youngest students began exploring their new Maple Street classrooms in the Spring of 2016.
