Middle School students
choose an elective to take every quarter. Electives in the 2015–16 school year ranged from calligraphy to fantasy literature reading to paper crafting to basketball skills.
Students use the Presidio and its diverse eco- systems as our living laboratory— the unique, rare, and varied ecosystems in the Presidio are fundamental to our embedded environmen- tal science program and help students of
all ages connect with the natural world and build their foundation as
young scientists.

Across enrollment, the Annual Fund, and the operating budget, all of the financial fundamentals of PHS are strong.
Every month, when the Finance Committee walks into the 8th Grade Math room on the third oor, we see a new set of poster boards and graphs that have been left on the walls. We see how the teachers and students have been exploring and interacting around mathematical concepts in order to make them come alive. On behalf of the Board and the entire PHS community, we take this as a challenge to do the same thing for the nancial health of the school.
Can we establish a sustainable nan- cial model that best delivers on the mission and goals of the school?
Can we nd the equilibrium, both long and short term, between enrollment, tuition levels, teacher salaries, devel- opment income, tuition assistance, and our xed operating costs?
The scal year that ended June 30, 2016, was a huge landmark for the school on several levels. The move
into Maple Street opened up an enormous new set of possibilities. The vision, which began over twenty years ago, to have an expanded physical plant, has become a reality and will enable PHS to excel and achieve
a whole new level of excellence in progressive educational practice.
Across enrollment, the Annual Fund, and the operating budget, all of
the nancial fundamentals of PHS are strong. Parent participation
and operating resources are at the highest levels in the school’s history. The budget is in balance and the future is promising.
No outcome is possible for PHS without every aspect of the school working in harmony. Thank you for everything you do as parents, as faculty, as sta , and as students to take personal ownership of PHS and to maintain the nancial foundation of the school.
