A double collar crossed-bight
bowline.
The legs of the bight are not
Figure 20a parallel, they enter the nipping Figure 20b
turn from opposite sites
(‘Myrtle’).
Based on dfred’s (IGKT Collar
forum) earlier work on mid-
line joining knots in 2011 and
then expanded upon by Xarax.
The structure contains a
nipping turn – which is a key
Nipping turn element of all Bowlines.

Scotts woven collar Bowline.
Figure 21a Scott Safier (USA) discovered this Figure 21b
interesting lock for the bowline 02
Feb 2013. However, in Dr Harry
Asher’s ‘The Alternative Knot Book’ Collar
a remarkably similar structure is
shown at page 73 and is called the
‘Enhanced Bowline’.
The collar structure must be set and
dressed for the lock to have
maximum effect. This is an
interesting structure because effort
Nipping turn has been directed at securing the tail
before it has been fed through the
nipping loop. The weave appears to
inhibit tail slippage pre-nipping loop.
Note: The weave can also be tied so
that the tail ends up on the outside of
the eye.
Field testing is needed.
