                                   Vintage Verse

                                   Scotia in Nyasaland

I see the winding links of Forth; I mark Ben Lomond’s crest,
Crowned with a fiery coronal – queen-mountain of the west!
For Scotland writ on every heart of Scotland’s sons must be,
                                               1
And yet this heart of mine is thirled , my Nyasaland, to thee!

Extract from Nyasaland by Robert Hillier Napier (1884-1918).

The Rev Robert Hillier Napier was a Church of Scotland missionary, scholar and
linguist. He was killed in action by a German patrol during WWI whilst engaged
in an intelligence gathering mission in Portuguese East Africa (now
          Mozambique).
